After weeks of no problems, I am now losing the wifi randomly. Another laptop in house on 2010 has been connected to same wifi router for days. for days.

****** possibly unrelated issue: **********
I had problems with wifi hardware not being recognized suddenly a week or so ago, but seems was another issue. At that point, nothing I could do would get the wifi working although the wifi card was seen in PCC.

I re-installed 2010, and still the wifi was dead.
Then I booted to windows 7, where I had to enable the wifi by the touch switch on the laptop.
Then when booting to 2010, the wifi was on. I thought maybe windows was able to change the bios or something, though there are no bios settings for wifi in this unit.
Since then it has worked, but with the above problem.
**********

The wifi touch switch has always blinked from blue ok to orange in use, and others have mentioned same with no connectivity problems, of which it has just been an annoyance.

Lately I lose wifi, and have to go to systray and select my wifi router again.

This time i may have caught something you can help with as I recorded a log, and it failed just as I was updating synaptic.
I've been googling for days before on some of the terms like 'link beat lost' but got nowhere. IPv6 comes to mind too. Help, please.

Hi,

I posted in another thread (http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,78729.0.html) because I thought the newly updated kernel could be the cause, but it seem it is another recent update that is responsible for this: my wireless also drops after some times, randomly. I have a Zydas 1211 (or so ?) Wifi USB stick by the way.
I have the same problem under PCLinuxOS Gnome and KDE editions.  Embarrassed

It's always great if one can use the internal wifi.

The laptop before this one was a Acer Aspire 5570z.  It had the atheros 801.xx built-in wireless.  It did the same to me has what you are saying.  I got tired of re-doing the connection to stay online.

I bought a pcmcia-card, a SMC brand.  PCLinuxOS picked it up right-a-way.  I just never liked this card sticking out the side of the laptop.

My present MSI laptop keeps a steady connection...even though it is a Atheros AR5001

P.S.  That Acer laptop would drop the wifi connection in XP on the other side of dual-boot also.  So maybe as mentioned, it could be a hardware or bios thing...

Except for me I haven't modified my BIOS settings or hardware for months. And my wifi used to work perfectly with PCLinuxOS (as with other Linuxes or Windows). But since some updates from last week, my connection drops, and this is only under PCLinuxOS.
