KDE 4.5.0 release information.

I will start shipping initial KDE 4.5.0 phase one packages to the repository this weekend. I have tested upgrading on all my test boxes.
A. After updating please check your /usr/share/config/kdm/ folder for the presence of a kdmrc file. I have added extra checks in the upgrade but if for some unknown reason it is not present in the folder simply re-install the kdm package from the Synaptic package manager.
B. After updating you will need to reboot your computer so all of the updated libraries can load and for KDE to function properly. If you happen to log out instead of rebooting and the system drops you to a console login, simply press the alt-control-delete keys together to reboot your computer.
C. kdebase4-workspace package has been split out into separate components. kdebase4-workspace is now a meta package. During the update it will pull in google gadgets. After updating you can go back and remove google-gadgets as well as the plasma-applet-googlegadgets packages if you so desire. You can also remove extra wallpapers and cursor themes.
D. Synaptic Summary Page - You will notice various output relating to cyrus-sasl warnings network required etc, openssh created rpmnew etc... You can safely ignore all of these warnings.
Known issues: There is no updated fake transparent patch available at this time for KDE 4.5.0. You taskbar/panel will no longer be transparent when using the glassified theme with non-gl video drivers.
Konqueror will not play Youtube videos using kthml. It will play sound but the video screen will be black. You can install kwebkitpart and switch konqueror to use webkit if you want to experiment. Youtube videos will play in konqueror with webkit but the controls will not function ie pause and stop.
Please do not report any 3rd party KDE application crashes relating to library relocation errors. KDE phase 2 build requires rebuilding all of the 3rd party KDE applications against the updated KDE 4.5.0 libraries. This will take place in the following days as time allows.
Have a great weekend.
