Today I needed to re-install PCLOS from My Live CD(DVD) and when I re-booted I started out with PCLOS log-in but soon after my desktop appeared I had Mandy icons, a blank wallpaper and a KDE3 desktop. Everything appears to function properly but the appearance is strange. How do I get back to PCLOS only with no Mandy icons or reference and remove the KDE3 references? While I can't see that this error log from akonadi has any relevance I'm attaching it anyway to be sure. Thanks.

Update: I re-booted and the log-in screen appeared I chose my default user account and tried to log-in as before but was met with two windows of slightly different sizes with the prompt [kansas@localhost"]$ I can then only exit and go back to the user account screen and choose a different user account then I can successfully log in to a different user account. I had successfully re-booted multiple times before this happened. Also I'm getting Mandriva update notifications that there is a new version of Mandy available and a "root" notification prompt within a few minutes after boot-up. While I was awaiting a reply here I decided to re-install from MyLive CD once more in hopes that this would solve the problem. It did not and there is no change. I still cannot log in to my primary user account either. One tidbit I'd like to add is that on first boot after install I'm met with a message "There was a problem adding medium could not find a mirror from mirrorlist $MIRRORLIST"

I have encountered yet another odd behavior. If I want to start a new session with a different user account I cannot. When I select start new session I am returned to the same account I'm currently logged into and prompted to enter the password. Do I need to do a fresh install or is there a way around this madness?

Did you "re-use" your /home partition when you re-installed? Or did you format it.
Have you had Mandriva installed on that system, possibly with the same /home partition?

You have 'cross pollination' from a Mandy install ....... whether it is on the Live DVD or on an attached HDD remains to be seen .....

Sorry for the delayed reply. Thanks for your suggestions or answers. As the Forum was down I was able to discuss this on IRC with Sproggy and Hootiegibbon. The conclusion was the same as has been suggested here. Somehow I got a cross pollination from the Mandriva "flower" which corrupted my PCLOS live cd that I made. I don't remember installing Mandy on this drive but in the process of solving a problem with PCLOS2010 on said drive I did use Mandy for a short time. Possibly this is how or when the problem began. Having a backup HDD is always nice and I copied my personal files to it and re-installed PCLOS2010.7 on the master drive after formatting / and /home. When I booted up after the install everything is back right again. Lesson learned from this experience, never install over an existing installation. Format first.
Thanks again for the support.
Bob
