This is from the Linuxgator website, someone started a topic about the Gnome pclinuxos 2010 installer having some issues and I think the person is right, there's some issues with the Gnome version installer, specifically with the partitions and formating of the hard drive using the Gnome live cd version of pclinux 2010 (The KDE version installer is NOT having these issues). you will understand what i'm talking about when you visit this link to the topic, be sure to read heavy metal's reply (my nickname in linuxgator) please...

It is exactly the same installer in all of the ISOS. The only thing different is the graphic screens have been grayscaled.

I think I figured out what went wrong, when installing with Gnome version we have to start the installation GUI and make the desired changes to the partitions, then when the installation GUI ask you to restart the installation process again, NOT the computer, then we got to choose to use the existing partitions and voila! the installation GUI do it's work!
