how do i use madwifi...properly

hi there i tried to use madwifi... installed it from the repos
and blacklisted ath5k etc (i followed the instructions at madwifi-project.org)
and i wouldnt see ath5k anywhere and ath_pci was in lsmod

so everything seemed fine, but in the control centre it said my wlan module was ath5k... how do i make the wlan card use ath_pci?

it wasnt an option in the configuration :S
