After searching this forum, still can't find the answer, so please tell me where the frozen repository is for PCL 2009. I've been trying to make PCL 2010 work but KDE4 just has too many problems for me. So I think I need to go back to PCL 2009.2 and KDE 3.5. I got it reinstalled, but can't find that frozen repository for updating it.
Please tell me where to find it. Thanks
Xenoflux provided the solution, posted at (or near) the end of this thread. Thanks Xeno.

Neal wrote: Read this: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,72364.0.htmlI did read that, and I did check and confirm everything posted there. Sorry for double-posting, but I still need help with this problem. The repository that I have set is: ... http://kde3.pclosusers.com/pclosfiles/and all other repositories are unchecked. I also changed the network dns setting in Firefox from false to true because that had been a problem in the past. network.dns.disableIPv6 -- true What else can I check to find out why this repository is not working for me?

Yes, it "opens" fine in the browser, but in Synaptic, it does not work. I can't update any of the listed files.

Yes, it "opens" fine in the browser, but in Synaptic, it does not work. I can't update any of the listed files.
The only comment I can then make is that the repository is available to your machine and your machine is able to access it. In that case the problem lies with Synaptic and not the repository. Most often in situations like this I have found there to be a minor error in the repository entry in Synaptic, so I suggest you untick the present repository, and create a new entry using the info provided via the link above, and tick the new entry for use. Reload and see if it works, regards.

joseppi, have you any error reports in Synaptic while trying to update?
What margarita proposed is you type or paste in terminal su -c 'apt-get update' and look for an output similar like hers. Eventually paste it here. apt-get command is the main updating instrument that Synaptic uses.

Xenaflux provided the solution. Posted here: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,72364.30.htmlThere is some problem in the way PCLinux sets up DNS so that "automatic" does not always work correctly and one must close the Internet connection and change the DNS manually to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. I don't understand why PCL doesn't just set up DNS like that in the first place, but at least Xena provided the solution.

If you can keep you head while all around you are losing theirs, then you have misunderstood the situation.

I thought I did. I added the word (Solved) to the subject line of my last post. Is there a different way I should have done that?

Yes there is a different way. Go to your first post, click the Modify button and add [Solved] to the title. There is some problem in the way PCLinux sets up DNS so that "automatic" does not always work correctly and one must close the Internet connection and change the DNS manually to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. I don't understand why PCL doesn't just set up DNS like that in the first place, but at least Xena provided the solution. You misunderstand. The problem isn't with how PCLinuxOS sets up your DNS server, or openDNS would not work, either. The problem is with the DNS from your internet provider. Many of us here are using openDNS because of the way our provider sets up DNS.

Thanks for the corrections, Neal.
As I have been testing several different installations, I find that some others do not have this DNS problem. Can you help me understand why I am having this problem with PCL and not with others? Would it not be possible for PCL to have an "optimum" setup so that no one would have a problem like this?
