On my desktop computer the PCLinuxOS2010.07 bootable cd gives me this error "bootlogo file too big" but it works fine on my laptop. PCLinuxOS2009.2 CD loads fine on desktop. Do you think that the 2 hard drives in the desktop running in mirrored raid 1 has anything to do with it?

Thanks, David

At startup it goes through the bios, through the raid 1 setting, goes to boot from cd/dvd, then we have a problem. It never gets to Grub on the live cd, here is what it shows at that point:

ISOLINUX 3.85 2010-02-20 EICD copyright.....
gfxboot:

The "bootlogo file too big" error is most likely due to the RAID1 setup. How are your hard drives laid out? In other words, how do you have everything partitioned? Are there just two mirrored drives? What OS is already installed? Is it hardware or software RAID? What brand is the desktop that gives the error? The more info you give on your hardware setup, the better it is to understand the problem you are having.

I suspect you have 2 drives, NTFS filesystem, RAID1 from a chip on the motherboard. Have you tried booting in "Safe Mode". You would most likely get a more descriptive error on booting from the CD.

Hardware is listed below on my tag, I built the computer from parts.  The 2 drives are mirrored RAID 1 in Bios(?) I currently have PCLinuxOS 2009 w/KDE desktop installed and running, want to update to KDE4. I do not get to the grub menu to pick what to load, so safe mode is not an option. I have a PCLinuxOS 2009 bootable cd that works it is the 2010 or KDE4 version that is giving me the trouble. Thanks
