Using GNOME PC Linux (free) 2010
Immediately after running SYNAPTIC yesterday July 22, 2010 I tried a document scan on my HP PSC 1510xi and got error message:

Failed to open device 'hpaio:/usb/PSC_1500 series?serial=MY577D41G30498':
Error during device I/O.

The printer is on line and correctly prints a test page from the HP Device Manager and an Email from Thunderbird. Printer is operating properly, but no scan.
Scan function was working before Synaptic update. I did install a new CANON driver to see if it would work on my MX310 but it didn't work and I deleted that printer. Perhaps I screwed something up with the Canon install attempt.

I need to email a few documents so I need my scan function back.

Help would be greatly appreciated!!

BTW, XSane reports the same error message and the SCANNER utility reports the printer "Device busy" and sends the pop-up:

PSC_1500_series Printer (KY577D41G30498)
Scan job failed (2002)

Just hold off a day or so. I'm trying to see if those 3 guys who want to print in duplex will update and test the packages I made last night. If they work they can pin the packages and I can go back to the previous build that works with your scanner.
