nouveau 3d drivers

I have been having problems with playing videos with compiz and the nvidia drivers, and just recently found out that using the nouveau 3d drivers solves my problems.  I have ran them in fedora, and opensuse.  I am thinking of doing a fresh install of pclinuxos gnome and would like to set it up to use these drivers, but don't know how to set it up to use them instead of the nvidia driver.

We won't get nouveau drivers until October of this year. I figure by then they should be pretty stable and feature complete. nouveau drivers require updated xorg server packages and new mesa libs just so you know before you go trying to build them yourself.
