Did you use Virtualbox to boot and then do the video "screengrab" ?

Yep+gtkrecordmydesktop+OpenShot

I don't know why anybody would need these previews.

Because:
- some people don't go to the cinema anymore and they need some kind of entertainment
- a friend of mine asked me, if I could do the videos and post them here
- after a beer or two one can see video clips in 3D when scrolling the page very fast [no need for new Sony 3D TV]
- one can learn how to use OpenShot
- one can learn how to export an .ogv file directly into an .avi mpeg2/HD 720 25fps file
- I had fun with making the videos Grin
- ...

Edit: typo

Coffeetime:
I was joking:

I've been on diazepam for a couple of days on account of a headache that comes from my shoulder muscles that comes from holding my 10 kilo baby around. That my excuse for my bad quality humour.

Coffeetime:

Thanks a million for posting these.  I had just downloaded some of the boot splash themes, and your post saved me LOTS AND LOTS of time rebooting my computer many times to see the visuals to decide which one I like best.

Q: Can the plymouth boot splashes be optimized for different aspect ratio displays??  I have a 1366x768 screen and everthing gets squished vertically, and curves get jagged edges.

Dulwithe,
You can look at the .script file for any plymouth theme in its folder in /usr/share/plymouth/themes. NewSun, for example, uses this to set the logo:
Code:
logo.sprite.SetX (Window.GetWidth()  / 2 - logo.image.GetWidth()  / 2);
logo.sprite.SetY (Window.GetHeight() / 2 - logo.image.GetHeight() / 2);

Those are lines 11 and 12 of the script.

Looking the .script file over will give you an idea of how this works and what is being done.
