hi, Every time i start the computer i must go into my Bios-Setup to indicate the correct drive. I put the drives on the right place... First the HD and than the CD/DVD drive, i think thats correct The problem is that i must repeat it every time. i have save me settings and its no use. Could that be a serious hardware problem ? Earlier i have a notebook from Packard Bell and after 2 Years i have those problems with the bios to. Otherwise when PCLinuxOS is started everything go's perfect. Anyone could help me with that problem ? Thanks on forehand. Pencil1

Is this a laptop or desktop? What model is it? Do you happen to know what the BIOS software is (AMI or Award or Phoenix etc) On a side note, spotted this on Packard Bells site: https://customercare.packardbell.com/customercare/PBUpdate.aspx

Look in your motherboard manual, there should be a picture or at least a scheme where the CMOS battery is. Or look here in the left-down corner at the big shiny circle, it should be the battery. http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/fullimage.php?image=4745This image is a part of this online manual: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/359

First the HD and than the CD/DVD drive, i think thats correct HD is always the last in order. You could never boot a CD if the HD was first.

I prefer HD first for not to waste time. If I'm gonna boot from CD I change the order.

If there was something wrong with the battery, the time would keep resetting would it not?
Oh yeah, some BIOS have an unusual boot selection setup. For example, there are options like
DVD-ROM Drive Hard Disk Flash Disk etc.
And then you would have to go to a different menu to select *which* hard disk you want to boot first.
