Dear PCLinuxOS forum admin,
A New column called "Section" for showing unread post since last visit may be provided. Right now section is displayed inside the subject column. So we can only sort by subject, not by section. It would be better if it is displayed section wise. Some useful topics go unnoticed in the cloud of general discussion. So if a separate column for section is provided we can easily sort the section and go thru only on interested sections. (Sorry for my poor English)

Hi ravi_npatty,

for showing unread post since last visit may be provided.

If I'm reading this wrongly please forgive me.  You should have 2 options available which show

"Show unread posts since last visit" and "Show new replies to your posts."

Those 2 options are on the top right hand side of my screen. I'm using the E-N Theme which I believe is one of approx half a dozen 10 forum themes to choose from.

You can change your theme in Profile >> Look and Layout Preferences > Current Theme:  select "change" and you can view other themes to try out.

menotu,
I believe a third option is being asked for. In addition to "Show unread posts since last visit" and "Show new replies to your posts," the OP seems to want "Show unread posts in [Section_Name]," which would in effect add as many new options as there are sections.

Once again sorry for my poor English.

There are two options at the top. I am not referring "show new replies to your posts.". I want to concentrate on new post (not replies to my post) in Software section and package Suggest Section. I want to skip general discussions.

I want section wise display of newer posts.

Doesn't "Show unread posts since last visit." do that ?

It does, only he seems to be requesting that the fun sections be excluded from the list.

Thank you Neal. You got my point. I wanted exactly the same. But I didn't put this way precisely since other people may want that too. So wanted an option to exclude it myself.

without a major change to the software, that's not going to be possible.  if you want to check those sections, pick them out from the main sections page.  click on PCLinuxOS-Forums and scroll down to the section you want.

I have it this way:

1+2.png(1): When I'm on the Main page blue sheet means there are threads in the section (with edit: new replies) that I didn't open.
1+2.png(2): I click on that sheet and see the threads with new posts since my last opening of this section.

3.png: If I enter the section by clicking on its topic name I see all the threads with new/unread replies. (the little "New" rectangle immediately after the thread name.

One more thing:
If you click on that little rectangle "New" you go directly to the first unread by you reply.
