Life's Good With Linux

« on: June 29, 2010, 05:01:10 AM »

My name is Wayne, AKA: Jeddaboy. I am so very sad to have to notify all members of the passing of a long time member, strong supporter, loving and ever ready to help out any one where possible,   KarlM.  Unfortunately, i am in shock at the passing of  my friend. We met on the forums years ago trying to sort out Skype issues. It developed into a very close, loving mate ship. He developed and through On-disk, distributed his DVD Repository Collections to help those less fortunate, because of finance and being stuck on dial up connection. Please remember him and if any of you are the prayerful type, pray for his family and friends now in mourning. I have written to Tex in more detail and awaiting his reply.
Sincerely,
             Wayne.

Terribly sorry to hear that. He was definitely one of the "good guys" around here. I'll miss him.

Sadly, the only PMs that can reach him now are those from the heart.

Thanks Old-Pollock,
He always spoke so highly of you, your  ability to help out in the most straightforward way. Especially to new users of Linux, pclos in particular. He was an extremly close friend and confidant to me as well as what he taught me about pclos. Sadly as i just wrote to Tex i never did win Gold Lotto to be able to get to the USA to spend time with him. I was on the verge of phoning the US after about 2 weeks of no email replies or  seeing him on Skype. Starting to "tear up" again mate. Thanks so much and thanks for your help on the forums over the years.

Jeddaboy:

Tex shared the message you sent him, about Karl, with the moderators here. If you would be so kind, could you post the videos he made on YouTube, and then embed them in replies here, so everyone could see them? I'm sure his own words and video efforts would be the best tribute to Karl, and show those that didn't know him well what a really great and nice guy we've lost.

Yeah, the tearing up does make it harder to post a decent reply. Having a bit of that problem myself.

We have lost much by his death. Most especially, this community has lost a true friend. Tears are an appropriate reaction in our mourning of his passing.

Thank you all for the replies. He was an extremely intelligent man, a whiz at math, physics, university educated. He was approximately 70 i think. We spent hundreds of hours on Skype, talking computers, all manner of things. We laughed and cried together at times. He was a quite achiever, with all his intelligence he was one of the most humble, kind hearted men i have ever met! Old-Pollock please check your messages re videos.

Thank you every one, we have lost a beautiful man and friend.
