Can anyone help with this please?

I have Win XP SP3 running as a guest in my PCLinuxOS kde 2010 host, using VB 3.2.4.  All usb devices are identified OK (printer, webcam etc) but my external usb hard drive comes up as Removable Device located at E:/ (the CDROM is on D:/ of course).  If I click on the hard drive it asks for a disk?

How do I get XP to recognise it as an HDD and allow me to open it?

TIA

If you don't find a way to use it directly in the XP-guest, you can mount it in the PCLinuxOS-host, and share it to the XP-guest (it will be seen as a network-drive then....)

Thanks for replying.  Could you give a bit more explanation of your suggestion.  The external drive is currently auto-mounted on boot as /media/%backups.  I access it through Dolphin on the host.  How do I share the actual drive with XP? Via fstab for example?

I have tried to share the folders on the drive via the share option in Dolphin (presumably to set up Samba shares?) but it just says "Only folders in your home folder can be shared"

I'm missing something here obviously.....

Mount the partition as /home/arjay/share then share the share directory.

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?
