I have an old PC that dual boots with WinXP and PCLOS2007. The HDD is small and we don't use the linux side anymore as we have a new machine with PCLOS2010. I tried to remove the Linux side of the dual boot to free up room for the kids school applications that only work in windows and now when I boot I get a black screen with:

GRUB Loading stage1.5

GRUB loading, please wait...
Error 22

How do I fix this? Then What is the best way to remove PCLOS 2007 and the associated partitions?

Thanks

You probably were deleting the / partition, to which the MBR of the HD was pointing to.......

Can you give us details about your HDs (which ones, how big, .....), and what is installed on it?

http://www.uruk.org/orig-grub/errors.html

Quote
22 : "Must load Multiboot kernel before modules"

This error is returned if the module load command is used before loading a Multiboot kernel. It only makes sense in this case anyway, as GRUB has no idea how to communicate the presence of location of such modules to a non-Multiboot-aware kernel.

Boot the Windows install CD, choose repair, (in terminal modus, black screen with white letters) choose the Win install (mostly 1), if necessary password, type FIXMBR enter, type FIXBOOT enter, type EXIT enter, Grub is gone en M$ in command again.

I ran through those steps and the only weird thing was the drive letter for the windows drive. Now on start up I get a black screen and flashing cursor... off I go to the M$ forums for an answer... hopefully.

Thanks for the help

My guess, reinstall grub? Perhaps using a livecd and the grub-install command. Definitely look up tutorials on how to do this, if you plan to.

Another alternative: maybe something is wrong with your hard disk, which is causing grub not to read data.
