I am looking for instruction to upgrade to 2010 from 2009. I found the instruction to install to a machine that does not have Linus on it. Do you just use the 2010 CD install and format the / and home partition? Where is there a good procedure I can get to. I know I have seen it, but am unable to fine it when I need it. Thanks for you help.

PS: I use dual boot with windows XP

There is no way to upgrade 2009 to 2010. A complete format and install (root and home) is necessary. Back up your data and then perform the new install. After that, you will be good to go for the next several years, if you update regularly.

A search of the forum will show many posts on this subject, including some replies with more information.

Can the same be done in reverse?  I would like to go back to the previous version as I am continuing to have way too many problems with things that just do not work right on the new system ... things that used to work just fine.  How can I obtain a new installation CD for the previous system?

You can download an iso from here:

Please note 2009 is no longer supported.

OK, thanks. That's what I want to do, but I wasn't sure when doing a complete install with Windows and 2009 already on the machine.
So I just go though the install process but only format / and /home.

Thanks again.

If you have /usr or any other on a separate partition from /, I'd recommend formatting those, too.
