You have probably checked the obvious but, have you installed the driver? Do you have CUPS installed? and if you do, is it set to start on boot?
You could try and reinstall the driver while your printer is attached. Epson Stylus Photo 750 is available in the Configure Printer section of PCC
Thorper, the configuration checks OK. I should have mentioned that I have changed from a parallel connection (parallel printer port not available on new PC) to USB. As already mentioned the ink levels reading and the printer test page work fine but anything else I try to print fails.
