swap file solved
«

Hello,
My new install did not create a swap file. Maybe I am missing it
but I cannot find where I can create a small swap file. The
memory info says there isn't one but memory available looks like
I might need 512M or so just in case.
Any help here ?
Thanks,
Patrick

That command does not cause anything, like most of the
other console commands I try.
However, I did get a swap file created on the second install.
PCC created it on the right hand side of the drive. When I created
it originally on the left hand side PCC said it was bootable so I
recreated it so it would be on the right hand side and was not designated
as bootable from there, and it worked after booting the installation correctly
as a swap area.
I think this problem is resovled then.

That command wasnt supposed to do anything other than showing us how your system is configured.
Only you and the gods of computers know what you have on your computer and sometimes people ask for info about your computer and its configuration before starting giving advise/support to minimize guess work and hence sometimes its best to respond even to things you may think arent useful.
If you think you have managed to solve the problem yourself, can modify the heading of the thread and add "solved" to it?
