I'm trying to connect my phone to my desktop and , after plugging the usb cord nothing happens on the pc side, it's not recognized even as connected while the phone recognizes it - the pc icon appears on its screen . I only have the driver for windows, that barely works on XP. Any chance of making it work here?

Samsung phones and Linux don't seem to get along very well. I have a D600 and can only connect it to my PC using bluetooth.
