  Hello,
I installed pclos 2010 on a friends Dell desktop. I updated everything and got it working excellent. It's fast and smooth even with Compiz Fusion running. He took it home and it did the same thing it did when he took it home with pclos 2009 installed, it refused to boot. I found out that he had his xbox controller plugged in and his ipod. So, I had him unplug one at a time until it booted. The ipod seems to be causing the issue. We tried several times, but it just won't boot when his ipod is plugged into the usb port. So, we searched the package manager for software that mentioned ipod and installed a couple players etc, but it still will not boot with the ipod plugged in.
I'm sorry, I do have have the machine or its specs in font of me, but I just wondered if anyone has run into this before and found a solution. For now, he just has to remember to unplug it before booting it up. This system is dual booting with XP - he's a gamer. After fixing his machine from virus issues several times, I finally convinced him to surf and download with Linux and it's just a bummer to run into this little problem. I'd sure like to make it go away for him. Any ideas?
Thank You,
Jaybee

Check and see if the BIOS has the option to BOOT from other devices enabled. If so try disabling it.

Hmmm, boot options. I'll take a look at that. Sometimes I forget to check certain things when it works perfectly in windblows. It makes it look like it must be a Linux setting of some kind. Anyway, I'll explore the setup options.

Yeah, my Acer Aspire One won't boot if my 3G wireless usb stick is plugged in during boot, pretty sure is trying to boot from it. I just plug it in after it starts loading boot manager. Change your settings, or unplug it during boot. Smiley
