When I try to install dkms-uvcvideo via synaptic, I get a dialog saying To be removed kernel-2.6.27.31.tex5, 2.6.27.31.tex5 and kernel-devel-2.6.27.31.tex5. This is the kernel I have installed. Does this mean if I try to install uvcvideo my kernel will be uninstalled?

I am running 2009 and not yet ready to move to 2010.

How do I go about installing uvcvideo?

Any and all help appreciated.

The uvcvideo code is included in the kernel code of that kernel, so one can't use the dkms module. The dkms module is for older kernels.

Thanks.

I just found out why the camera wasn't working. Apparently it won't work in a Usb 1.x port.

Definitely needs a USB2 port. Does your machine have such ports? Is it working now?

I am getting video now, for the most part. I can do what I wanted to do with the camera.

Now, if I can just get the audio on it working... but that is definitely not a deal breaker. The quality of the video is actually quite good.

Thanks.
