I've got brand spanking new updated E17 packages built from svn as of this weekend.
Whats new:
itask-NG winlist-NG Composite replaces bling Lots of new modules A few depreciated modules Updated e_themes-agust Removed Entrance login manager until new version is available. Please use gdm or kdm.
New programs: Enki - Graphic album manager elmdentica - blogging client editje - edj editor
Known issues. Exchange does not work. Toolbar navigation on efile manager not functional. Drawer module removed due to not being functional. taskbar does not inherent theme.
Please note due to the complex issues of upgrading from the old version to the new version this upgrade will reset your desktop to the default settings. This means you will have to go back and customize your desktop again.
For best results use the task-enlightenment package to upgrade your E17 installation.
Please remember! Enlightenment DR17 is under heavy development, not everything is 100% functional at this time.
Coming soon to a server near you.

Hi Tex, I am using a fully updated PCLinuxOS KDE 2010.1 install. When I tried to update and upgrade just now from the PASS server, aside from some usual files that needs to be updated, it was said that the following will be installed: e e17_themes e_dbus e_modules econfig ecore edb editje edje efreet elementary elmdentica embryo emotion emprint enki enlil ephoto ethumb evas eweather exchange libedb1 libiptcdata-i18n libiptcdata0 libmpd1 python-e_dbus python-ecore python-edje python-efl_utils python-elementary python-emotion python-ethumb python-evas task-enlightenment Naturally, I didn't proceed with the update. I thought something is wrong. UPDATE: The problem above appeared with the apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade command. When I tried updating with Synaptic, all seems to work fine. First time I had problems with the apt-get way.

task-enlightenment on pass should remove some depreciated packages, upgrade some existing packages and install some new packages.

Updated , only two reboots and works satisfactorily. Remember Itask NG , look here: This new version 999.063 , there are many improvements, changes slightly the configuration of the desktop, but the basics are more or less the same. Composite works fine is fantastic , thank you Tex . Greetings: Agust

Hi All. Just wanted to make sure as well. On my pass update this morning with synaptic, it is pulling in task enlightenment and some other e updates. I also am running a clean 2010 kde4. Is it necessary to pull in the enlightenment packages as well? No problem I suppose if that's the way it is, I just prefer to keep my desktop environments on separate installs if I can.

Along with mikej, I am wondering if I should proceed or wait until something is changed.
A synaptic update (from PASS) is wanting to install task-enlightenment and a lot of other enlightenment programs. I use KDE only so I am waiting to hear if this enlightenment install is correct. I currently have no enlightenment stuff installed in synaptic so I don't know why it is wanting to install.
I think something just may not be exactly right with this.

Well , to do the update to the new version, be aware that the only theme that works completely is the default theme. The other themes work well, but I have to make a small update on all themes Arrgghhhh!!!!!. Greetings and be patient and makes the update of the themes gradually. Agust

Agust, I think nixer is saying he doesn't have e17 installed, but synaptic wants to install it as an update.

You are correct Neal, I do not have enlightenment installed, yet synaptic wants to install it. The only DE that I have installed is KDE.

Same here: 2010 KDE install, my pass update wants to download a lot of E17 stuff. Update is on hold... :-(
Could someone shed some light please? Should we proceed with the update? Is all this Enlightenment stuff necessary or is it an error in the update process?
TIA Cris

I did the update last night, before reading texstar's post. My only question is: Does anyone know an easy way to get the missing icons back in the menus, (example=OpenOffice)?
EDIT: Well, to answer my own question, left-click desktop, select Settings > Settings Panel. Look section is already selected. Scroll down to and click on Icon Theme. Pick one. How easy is that?

I just reloaded Synaptic and selected Mark All Updates and along with many KDE4 updates it wants to install Enlightenment and associated apps. I don't want no stinking Enlightenment. I'm enlightened already. I hadn't installed anything associated with e17 since I installed from 2010 final. Why should this be?

I can confirm that. e17 was installed on my LXDE setup during a routine update. Previously, only openbox and LXDE were on it.
