Not particularly important but interesting, nevertheless:

- Can a side/top panel be "protected", i.e. so that a window cannot encroach onto its space? It has occurred that
a window's top bar has disappeared behind the top panel and cannot thereafter be moved Tongue
- When I boot, the loader immediately goes into verbose-mode; would prefer graphical

Any hints? Thanks

My first niggle is beginning to become important  Angry  The MyDocuments icon is gradually disappearing behind the top panel (BTW, is the no way of repositioning icons on the desktop?) and at least two apps - xfw and medit -  (with windows maximised) have their top bars jammed up under the top panel. This means that their windows can no longer be moved/iconised/maximised/restored/etc. Quite strange.  Shocked
Has anyone any idea how to correct this problem? Thanks.

Edit: It's just occurred to me that, if I could edit the config (??) file which defines where a particular window sits on the desktop, I could move these windows away from the top panel. Is that reasonable?  Huh

Well, I've fixed the medit problem.  I temporarily moved the top panel to the right; this revealed medit's top bar and I was then able to change its size, before returning the panel to the top.  Grin  But that doesn't solve the basic problem of the panel covering the window's top bar.

Does holding the Alt key, and click&drag with mouse on any part of a window allow you to move it on the screen so you can get at the corners to resize?

Yes, it absolutely does  Grin  Great, and many thanks.   Smiley Wink

Edit: Nope, take everything back Cry. It's just happened again and your suggestion doesn't work; as long as the top panel is (partially) covering the window's top bar, Alt/click/drag has no effect. Only when I move the top panel to the right (as previously described) does it work.  No prob, because I know how to get around the situation, but I still think that there's an error there somewhere.  Huh Huh
