HI all, im trying to get my Canon pixma iP1700 working with Pclos 2010.1 is it possible? Is there a driver for Kde? any help would be great, i Googled it but couldn't find any info.

It seems you picked the wrong printer .....

Canon has ton's of Linux drivers but yours I don't see on their site:

http://software.canon-europe.com/

That means that you're out of luck, likely. Of course (I guess) Turboprint might have the driver included.
That is not free and maybe you be better of financially by buying a new printer in stead (??). The 1900 series are supported (i.e. ip1980) and work well.

For my Canon Pixma mp560, I had to go to Canon's site in Australia before I found the drivers.  Shocked

Go figure.

My Canon Pixma ip4500 was auto detected and setup automatically - I just confirmed model etc.

Have you tried setting it up through the PCC (Configure My Computer) > Hardware > Config Printer and scanning

If you can't see your specific model you could try the closest version to it - the next model up maybe?

Thank you all for posting, yes after i did some more research i see my printer isn't supported Sad, oh well no big i have an older hp deskjet that looks like it is supported Smiley.
