I have tried more than 20 different Linux-Distro's. For my IMac i have now PClOS - KDE4.
And everything works, sound, screen resolution is good, temperatures stays good, and so further.
Thanks to PCLinuxOS my Mac has a new life without great costs for new apple programs.
For home and my work its great. Great job ! THANKS.  Cool

Yes, apple cost money, and is NOT better than for example HP or Acer in my opinion.
I never buy apple again.
When i buy a new computer, well i run Linux on it, so i am convinced that i have no great problems, and low costs.

That is great news!
Could you please explain (possibly step by step) how you did it?
I read this thread and lost hope: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,70897.msg601463.html#msg601463
Did you do something like this: http://www.brighthub.com/computing/linux/articles/34826.aspx or is there a better way now.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Thats really very simple...
Because i don't want Tiger, i have make my choise to run Linux on my Mac.
First of all, think that when You install Linux on IMac machines, You have to forget some things that Mac has, for example IPhoto, IWeb...
A : Insert the disc with PCLinuxOS into the drive... Hold down the C-Key...
Overwrite when installing the existing partitions...
Than You install Linux on Your machine, its Intel, and pcLos recognize very good the hardware...
Everything can be installed like on other computers, but, note that i am in a testing fase on my IMac with Linux.
Also when You have a IMac with only 512MB, install the Gnome-Version... That take less space and works better.
The Keyboard is another problem... Configure it as Macintosch... Still the @-Key will stay under the 2-Key.
I gonna try it with an other keyboard and mouse.
Now i am reteired, and gonna take a little holliday in the nature, walking in the mountains i like, its good for the condition and the mind...

Yes, i think so.
But i have no experience with those machines.
When i return in about a week, i visit a friend who has a older Mac, gonna ask hem, nows much about computers.
Before a take a break in the nature, i must do some work because i closed my Art-Studio for good, and its much work to do all the paperwork correct.
Now i am a free man, time for biking, rowing, and tracking in the nature.
Art is dead here in Belgium, its better to stop in beauty than to make costs and have almost no clients anymore.
Thats life...

Ok got it, thanks Pencil1.
I'm just gonna pop open my Mac Mini (pretty easy actually considering it's Apple hardware) and take out the HDD with the Mac OS. Then pop in a fresh HDD to install PCLOS on. Then I'll be able to use Linux primarily and use OSX when I need to.

PCLinuxOS: A revolution in personal computing

It would not work with PCLinuxOS, you would have to find a distro compiled for the different processor.

As for the keyboard problems with an intel-based Mac, it is possible to reassign keys with a little work. In fact you can make any key do anything you like, provided you have a return code for it, that's easy to get too. Please check the site and/or the net, and if you cannot find the answer, ask in the Hardware help section.

PCLinuxOS has no wealthy sponsors and can only survive with your donations! Don't wait it might be too late.

Running PCLOS on Athlon AM2-4200 with 2Gb Corsair Ram using ASUS M2N32 WS Pro Mobo with Nvidia GF7600GT graphics, and Samsung NC10 Netbook
