I'm having some difficulty booting the live CD for PCLinuxOS on my eMachines laptop. I think the issue is related to my ATI Radeon HD3200 card. I've had the same problem when trying to boot the MIB remixes of Mandriva due to the default installation of the proprietary driver. I get a screen saying that the Xserver has failed or something to that effect. Is there a straight-forward way of getting the liveCD to boot?

Thanks!

Did you try the vesa option?

I'm not sure I not sure I fully understand what you mean. I've heard the term vesa but don't know how to proceed.

Second choice on the liveCD boot menu.

I also have issues with this card. The initial installation of Zen is fine, but if I install fglrx it crashes hard - also if I install the newest driver from ATIs site it crashes during start,

will investigate dmesg and around as soon as possible,

this is a test install of Linux as public PC's (this is an all-in-one HP Pavillion) where I expect to run 90-100 systems so I try hard to get this working perfectly with pclos (that is with 3d graphic acceleration), the alternative is...yup you guessed it...10 year old XP.

If anyone have hints please post away, I'll debug in my end also :-)

Another issue is an -annoying- beep all to often (with every small 'error' or top-of-page reached and such..) in this quiet multi-person office.... think there is a thread around here how to disable this,

cheers,
