HP Deskjet All -in- One F2120 no black print

Hi All. Having problems with my printer in that it will not print in black. I'm running 2010 KDE final, fully updated. I think this started happening with the last hplip update, but am not really sure.  The printer was installed during the install of 2010 with the OS.  I have been through all the settings in device manager, have checked and changed the cartridges etc.  Any attempt to print a document returns a faded colour printout. Interestingly enough when I do a test page it will print in black.  Same printer, on same computer, will print properly from the windows partition, so I know the printer does function. Any ideas appreciated.

Try uninstalling the printer and then install it again

 There have been many cases where this has fixed problems.

I did uninstall and reinstall the printer numerous times trying to get it to work right. No success yet.
