Author Topic: Live CD boots in console mode?  (Read 325 times)

I've been so impressed with PCLOS on my netbook (and the live CD on a laptop), I thought I'd see what it could do on a desktop....

I'm trying the KDE full live CD.

It's an oldish ACER Veriton 7600GT whose only real oddity is having an extra graphics card supporting two monitors. The main monitor is on the built in Intel 82865G and the secondary is on (the primary port of) a Radeon 9250.

I booted without splash (as I did with the netbook and the laptop) and after normal stages I got a brief garbled display and then a console prompt to login.

It boots in 'safe mode' but only in 1024X768 (the monitors are both 1280X1024).

Being a bit of a newbie to linux, I'm not really sure how serious this is. If I installed (I'd want dual boot with XP) is this easily fixable or will it be a world of pain....?
