laptop packages on lxde

Hello, Im a bit new and I installed 2010 lxde version on my laptop. I used pclinos2010b2 for a few weeks and was able to do everything i wanted and was using the lxde version as my desktop. Well, i cannot find the power management to setup the battery settings, etc. Not even sure what that package is called. Also, could not find any printers. Can someone recommend to me the packages that i should install to be comfortable in this environment?

There was i post i ran across that told what packages are best for laptops, etc but i cannot find it again.

Well, i cannot find the power management to setup the battery settings,

There is one available as a "Panel Applet", I've tried it on my Dell Mini10v.

Right click on the panel and select "Add/Remove Panel Items".  Click on the tab "Panel Applets" and you get a list of those currently installed, which you can re-arrange using the Up/down buttons.  If you click on "Add" you will get a list of the additional applets that are available.  

This includes a battery monitor, but it's not the best.  You get a vertical bar which is green when the power is plugged in and yellow when running on battery.  It's supposed to go red when the battery is almost exhausted and give you a five minute warning, but I've never got that low.  My main beef is that this monitor always says 100% charged in yellow mode, even when I know from other monitors that it's only 50%.

There are other monitors available in the repo, I tried wmlaptop, and wmbattery, the first is more useful as it gives other info as well, but I have problems with these too.  When installed, I started them by typing the name into the RUN box in the PC menu, but I don't know how to turn them off again!

A small (maybe 32x32?) window appears permanently in the upper left corner and won't go away!  It also blocks other windows from using the columns of pixels below it, and overwrites any window you move into the same space.

It would be useful if it were less aggressive, but I don't know how to tame it.  Can anyone help here?

I find on the LXDE bug tracker that the built in battery monitor failure is a known bug.  Nothing seems to being done about it yet.  All it tells me is whether the power cord is plugged in or not, and I can see that for myself!

So can anyone tell me how to either turn off wmlaptop, or allow other windows to overwrite it?  It seems to be 64 pixels square, and essentially removed a 64 pix wide column on the left side of my screen.

Conky has a charge setting in it, you might also be able to add a bar to it, not sure as my battery is dead.
