Hi:
I have had no problems with PCLINUXOS 2009.  I put on a clean install of PCLINUXOS 2010.  No sound.  Under Admin/Multimedia I found the sound and video configuration.  One audio output worked.  I pushed (preferred) this output to the top of the screen and selected apply.  I did this for notifications/music/video/communication/games/accessibility.  I rebooted computer.  I could hear the little introductory jingle.  That was encouraging.  Unfortunately DVD movies play without sound.  I tried watching a movie trailer using firefox.  No sound.  I couldn't actually get Amarok to work... but that's a problem for another day.   Obviously my sound card works and is configured properly but is not being used by some of my applications.  I can't help feeling I've forgotten to do some simple thing.  Any ideas?
cheers

Please post a picture of your multimedia setup in KDE and also the contents of /etc/modprobe.conf file.

Hi:
Thanks for your help.  I took two snapshot and posted them here.  Not sure if it was done correctly.  Of course, I could not find /etc/modprobe.conf file.  The closest I could find was /etc/modprobe.d.
Let me know if you need any other information.
thanks
Bryce

Hi:
Well that didn't seem to work.  Couldn't find any info pertaining to posting screenshots or files.  The insert image icon didn't seem to do much but say   .  I pasted the two snapshots and the file but, as far as I can tell, no one can actually do anything with them.

cheers

Hi:

Here are links to the two snapshots:

I pushed the device that worked to  the top of the list and checked 'accept'.  I get the start-up and close-down sound/music but nothing else.

Thanks for your help.
