hi

i'm using pc linux os 2010
gnome desktop

when i running compiz the coputer hang
i add ( system monitor ) on panel and i see 100% in use !!!! Sad

i don't no why ? but when i stop compiz everything is ok
32% in use Smiley

intel cor 2 due 2.20
4 gb ram
nvidia 9500gt

anybody help me plz

hello and welcome to the forum

what driver you have installed for that nvidia?

that nvidia requires a specific driver, you can find it in synaptic, also you can update system, there is some updates for the latest version you installed

i don't install any driver for nvidia

just i'm going to system - administration - compiz fusion icon

and click on it - the compiz is running

i updated my system from synaptic
reload then apply after it finish i restart my pc

synaptic has that driver, you can install the one you donwnloaded but it is easier to use the one in synaptic

open synaptic and press search button, write nvidia

the results shows 3 possible options, i believe you can use dkms-nvidia-current, it is the nvidia 193 version, maybe there is a newer one but this one seems to be more stable

after the driver install set again the video card in pclinux control center/hardware/setup the graphical server

in the graphic card select the driver again, i don't remember the rest of the process, it involves selecting the nvidia proprietary driver
