So is it soup yet ? Cheesy Is the current 2010 MiniMe (the 446mb one) safe to call "the final" ? there is no Beta or RC suffix attached to it and I have other people asking me this.
Thanks

There isn't anything to indicate neither. I have installed the version with checksum 4fbb7c3acca2839a8d54ca3843ddbeb7and my laptop had never felt so new. The only issue I had was in Session. I opted for the Start a New Session on login.

Hay there Archie
I can't run it "Live" for more that the time it takes to make a post (too much for my old box Cheesy). Might try a install before long as I'm sure It will run well enough that way (Plus I can always reinstall '09.1) My first stab at 2010 was the one that was 477mb, then the next one and now this one. None had a beta or RC suffix to differentiate them. Makes ya wonder............. Grin

weirdwolf , if you haven't, give LXDE a chance on older hardware.  Wink

howdy weirdwolf.

There were three? I didn't realize that either. The copy I have is the one that matches the checksum I posted. It was kinda strange with Minime 2010 but since there isn't any official announcement, I guess it's still anything goes. I assume you have the latest on the mirrors?

I just checked NLUG and the Minime available has a different checksum than the one I posted (b73887d6796ca91db06a70f18a0922af). Very strange!? But I haven't encountered any serious flaw that I couldn't couldn't so I guess I'm staying with my current install. It has been fully updated as well.

As I've stated, since there isn't an official announcement, I would suggest you opt for the latest one. I will download it as well for future use. Have you gone about the usual checklist? Of course, you had. What are your machine specs? I read somewhere that other DEs were installing well on P4s with 512Mb RAM. Then there's also ZEN-mini and Neal's beautiful baby.

I really hope you sort your issues out soon.

There were at least two. The wrong kernel was in the first one. Where did a third one come from? I didn't notice a third one.

Yup... count them, 1, 2, 3. Got all of them. I installed the first one, then installed the 2.6.33.2-pclos1.bfs kernel, which seems to be more stable on this hardware.

I'm on my third download. I can't get minime to run in VMware. It can't find a tty and freezes
on boot. If this next one dont work I'm giving up for a spell. It want's to run /bin/ash. Is that
right?

That's the fall back shell, when the init process has problems. It allows more knowledgeable users to make entries to try to save the process.

I finally got MiniMe 2010 installed and running good the other day (fourth time was a charm Roll Eyes ) it was fairly quick , not as quick as  '09 but still pretty good.  Started to do my usual customizing and what not and came to the conclusion that I really couldn't stand Kde 4.4 even in base form. Hopefully by the time 4.5 (or .6 or .7) comes around they will have put down the crack pipe and gotten help.
Running the LXDE Mini right now and pretty dang happy with it Cool Very Nice Job!! to all involved.
