I recently upgraded all my files.  My HP 1200 Business Jet with a duplexer that had been working fine up till then suddenly produced some rather strange  copy if it worked at all.  It was working with a Linksys WPS54G print server.  After trying every possible setup combination using either the online setup (http://localhost:631/admin) or the KDE setup I found a problem, the print server apparently uses port 9100.  After fiddling with this problem including adding listen to the server config file I was getting nowhere.  I then tried to use a straight USB connection.  Again cups 1.4.2 refused to print in duplex from a file although a test page would print both sides from the online setup   On checking my laptop that has not been upgraded and runs cups 1.1.x the usb setup works OK after I use the online setup to enable the duplexer.  One obvious difference is the driver.  The laptop uses Foomatic/hpijs that is not available in the driver list in cups 1.4.2
My question then is can I simply copy some of the old files from my laptop setup to the desktop and if so which ones and what is their location.  Another option is simply reinstalling my original system files.  I'm concerned that this could wipe out much of my data even though it is (in theory) backed up to a portable disc.
I need help.  While I've used one Linux distro or another for several years I'm still unsure of the directory structure and where things should be.

Hi suddiebill

Which version of PCLinuxOS are you using? Are you trying out the new 2010 Beta 2 release or are you on another earlier version?

Problem is fixed.  The HP Business Jet 1200 required the Foomatic hpijs driver.  This was not available in CUPS i.4.2 upgrade.  After fiddling around I reinstalled PCLinus OS 2009.  The required driver is listed and all is back to normal.  Duplexer is working fine from the network.

Great news - pleased to see everything is hunky dory.
