I've tried every option can I boot straight to the installer as that's the only thing I have not tried. If I'd had problems installing the other versions I could put it down to a compatibility issue.
But as I said LXDE/ KDE installed as default as do 99% of distros as I use A Linux friendly desktop.

Have you checked your download to make sure it was complete, and two.. have you done media check on your cd?  could be a bad burn as well.

For suspend and hibernation issue.
It is a link problem from the logout menu.. To try it out, just use a terminal and type"pm-suspend" or "pm-hibernate" and it should do the action for user. If not , try as root.
Thank you, bartos! It can be done as I done winth Prnt Scrn add a hotkey for suspend! Excellent!

An update for everyone.
To add suspend to a keybinding.
Open E17 settings- Input - Key Bindings.
Add the new key you want as Suspend on the left side  ( my keyboard has a sleep button) . On the right highlight Suspend in the System Category.
Apply and close. Press your suspend key and a dialog will come up confirming Suspend. If it suspends then great.
If your machine does not suspend , then open /etc/enlightenment/sysactions.conf.
Change action:   suspend /etc/acpi/suspend.sh  -f
to action:   suspend pm-suspend.

This has worked for me on a desktop and laptop.

Agust.  gtk 2 was one of those updates, if I'm not mistaken.  I've also begun to experience some other 'desktop' related issues since updating the same packages.    Can you please open synaptic and under history copy and paste the most recent history of updates so we can narrow this down?  I've also had windows sticking in places (like the upper left hand corner of the screen) where it's unmoveable, and some other wonky de issues popping up. I've reported it on the dev ML and have suggested that e17 be redone under the latest gtk.  Hopefully this will help.

It's the gtk that's been updated.  It will continue to cause our little baby to burp and spit up on occasion until e17 itself is repackaged with the new libs, etc.

I'm getting some other random burbs as well as window decoration problems but I'm hopeful it'll all be straightened out soon.

What a smart cookie you are!!  Alway ready to get the best of any situation.  Tex has begun the process of rebuilding anything that relies on gtk 2, et.al.  Gnome, of course is first priority.   Grin Grin

My father said there is always something positive in a problem, just need to know to find it. Wink
I'm enjoying this to have days off, so Tex has no hurry to fix the problem. Grin Wink

So I am guessing rebuilding everything that relies on gtk 2 will slow down the 2010 final a bit...LOL.   I was expecting it any day  now, but this sounds like a big job...
