Just downloaded PCliux 2010 beta from the Heanet Mirror.
http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/pclinuxos/live-cd/english/preview/pclinuxos-2010-beta1.iso

First anomaly was the size - 433M instead of 693.4M, I then checked Md5sum:-

[anc@orac Downloads]$ md5sum pclinuxos-2010-beta1.iso
1aff66365a3ee024079899f740001840  pclinuxos-2010-beta1.iso

a different result. I've deleted this iso and downloading from
http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/texstar/pclinuxos/live-cd/english/preview/pclinuxos-2010-beta1.iso

Not sure if the heanet mirror is corrupt or some fault on my ADSL connection, will try again.
Anyone else had this problem from heanet ?

Ditto - same as coolbreeze - I don't think I've ever encountered a problem with heanet.ie

Don't know which app you used to download it but you may be able to resume it insead of downloading it all again

I used firefox to download it, took 15 minutes thats all, but left it unattended.
I downloaded from iblio, took a while longer but now I have correct md5sum
and will try the beta release on new partitions.

Heanet seems OK to me.

pclinuxos-2010-beta1.iso              06-Mar-2010 09:18  694M
pclinuxos-2010-beta1.md5sum           06-Mar-2010 10:03   59

I have also found it reliable and reasonably fast (from NW England).

However the beta on ftp.nluug.nl does seem to be too small.

pclinuxos-2010-beta1.iso                           06-Mar-2010 12:08  248M  <<<<<
pclinuxos-2010-beta1.md5sum                        06-Mar-2010 11:03   59

I am fairly sure that the reported size is correct as I was watching it arrive from IBIBLIO on beta 1 day, hoping to download it from there. The increasing size stalled at 248M.

Firefox can be a pain with large d/l files. Konqueror web browser can integrate with kget which offers choice of where to d/l, monitoring the d/l speed, and allows resuming stalled downloads. I always use konqueror for large file d/l, which .iso images are.

Another option would be Filezilla which also allows downloads to be resumed (and stopped and picked up later)

Another option is Retriever by Halogenware <http://www.halogenware.com/software/retriever.html>

It has a nice scheduling facility so I can get large files overnight.
