I downloaded both Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.11 update along with my more important printer software for my Lexmark X6675 All in One Printer.

Both are .bin files.  How do I install .bin files?

thanks!

right click on the file, click properties and then click on the permission tab and tick the execution bit box if it not set and click ok

browse to the folder where the file is and press "F4" to bring up the terminal, type "su" and press "enter" and enter root's password when asked and then type "./blabla.bin" where "blabla.bin" is the name of the bin file you want to install

ps:
you can auto complete the name by first writing its first characters and then pressing tab key

He's not going to be welcomed to the forum and then get yelled at for not installing from the repo?

Anyway welcome to the forum. A light yell. Installing from other sources than our synaptic package installer I think would muddy the waters during this beta test..

Others will jump in and guide you. It will be nice to be sure your printer will work on 2010 when the release comes.

did it work? we really strongly discourage installing programs outside of official repository. You can access our repository through a program called synaptic(i believe its reddish icon is on your panel).

it is sometimes better to present a problem and ask for help than to present a solution to a problem and then ask for how to carry out the solution because your solution may go against our policy.

can you modify the header of your thread and add "solved" to it if you are satisfied with the outcome?

welcome to our little community .. looking forward to seeing you around and greetings to all you think highly of

One quick question - can I ask why are you using the 2007 version of PCLos? Its a very old distro and will cause huge problems trying to update it (It you can update it at all)

You may want to consider downloading the 2009.2 version or the most current version which is 2010 (note; 2010 is the first beta of this new version but is pretty stable thus far)
