parnote is to shy to post this helpful hint, so I will, but I got it from him so give credit where credit is due.
<Joble> I don't know if this is worth mentioning as a bug, but xchat preferences does not work on my 1024X600 monitor.  My selections don't stick cause I can't scroll down to OK or Apply
<parnote> Alt + Left Mouse Button and drag the window until you can see the OK or Apply button
<Meemaw> Alt + Left button and scroll on the mouse pad...... right?

So there you have it.  Maybe you know that already, but it was a big surprise to me, and IT WORKS!

another little trick I discovered (dont know if this will work on pclinuxos or a kde desktop - but definately has worked for me on other distros ) is outlined here                                http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=81513

Basically , on my eee900 for example , the standard resolution is 1024x600 , this can cause problems with some apps going off screen etc.
Now if I run the command "xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1024x600 --scale 1.28x1.28"     (can be autostarted if needs be), my resolution amazingly goes to 1024x768 .All apps fit , and the desktop looks more traditional - font size may have to be increased though.

I dont know if krandr works the same but was amazed at the ability to fake a higher resolution.

Issuing the command "xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1024x600 --scale 1x1"   reverts everything to normal.

When I install the new pclos I will report back here if needs be

Just tried alexjamestodd's xandr command on my Dell mini 10v as root.  Didn't seem to have any effect.

By the way, shouldn't a scale of 1.28x1.28 result in 1311x768 from 1024x600?

How does one become a hero?  By asking a lot of dumb questions apparently! I have three computers of various ages, the most powerful is a Dell Netbook 10v; each has 2 or 3 versions of PCLOS of various vintages.  Location, St John's, Newfoundland.

I dont run it as root - just as a normal command

I believe the initial instruction from eeeuser.com should give a 1024x768 - mine is modified to what I found looks best.

The beauty is that you can "fake" any resolution by modifying the command
