Well, it looks like i am gonna have to do a reinstall since Compiz is not working with kde, it seems to be missing what it needs to work correctly and really the only reason i run Pclinux on this box is for Compiz.

So is there a way to install Compiz with KDE or do i just have to wait for the fix. If so i think ill wait wth the older version that works correctly.
It would have been nice to have it clearly posted that Compiz does not work with kde...and i no youl dont need it.

are you using pclinuxos2010 beta1? you have not said anything useful, what version of kde are you using, what install of pclinuxos are using, what doesnt work in compiz? the more info you give, the sooner your particular issue will be addressed.

Im using kde 4.3.4, and im running pclinux 2009 version and i updated kde, i searched and found how to updrade kde but did not see any info stating that compiz would not work with it.

When i try to update compiz it tell me that i need compiz-wm-kde that is not available at the moment.

hello and welcome to the forum!

kde4.4 doesn't exist yet so you should edit your post(unless you are testing 2010 beta 1 and this one is not supported, it is for report errors and test it)

i am using compiz right now and all works perfectly, using it since 2007/8, using it on kde4.3 since october without problems(in fact it crash far more less than on kde3)

have you verified that your video card is properly installed(right drivers) and have you disabled kde4 desktop effects?(in kde control center)

one interferes the other, can't be enabled both

i don't have compiz kde installed, in fact it doesn't mention it when i search in synaptic that package you mention, it seems that i installed task-compiz-fusion-gnome but it works perfectly under kde4.3.4

i am using fusion icon to call compiz, i am using emerald as a window decorator, not kde kwin or anything similar but i can use gtk gnome  Grin

kde4.3.4 running on pclinux 2009 is in a abandoned state, lots of problems raised when many users updated their systems form kde3 to kde4 and it was decided to freeze in kde3.5.10 or in kde4.3.4 and wait for a new iso, pclinux 2010 with kde 4.4.1

this one is in testing state, maybe one more moth to see how it works

let me ask you this, do you need to enable 3d desktop effects in the control center? Not sure how but i did get it to work by using the compiz fusion icon but i do not have 3d desktop effects enabled from the control center i do have them enabled from the configure your diesktop icon. But i did see the compiz flash screen when it started up.

"but i do not have 3d desktop effects enabled from the control center"

i never used the option in pclinux control center, i always call compiz with the fusion-icon button, the pcc route gave me problems in 2007 so i never tested any other way again, always call it form the autostart menu in kde(to load it when  kde3/4 loads)

in kde control center/desktop(can't remember the path in english) menu there is the native kde4 desktop effects, a response form kde team to compiz, it works well on some machines but most cases it seems to be the pita for all new kde4 users, i always recommend to turn it off and test compiz to see how the system responds

well after a little reading i see that you dont have to run the compiz kde window manager for it to work, thats why i can enable it by using the compiz icon instead of just enableing 3d from the control panel.

But hey it works.

I noticed that you say "I updated kde", but "am running 2009". Does this mean you have a system not FULLY updated? If so, I suggest that you fully update it so it tells you that it's now "pclos 2010". I don't know whether this WILL clear any problems, but updating individual apps  - or even installing new ones, - even from Synaptic - is known to be a good substitute for Russian Roulette!
