I'm at the office and not in front of my PCLinuxOS system.  I just got an email alert form NewEgg.com regarding a sale on HP printers.  I'm wondering where I can find info on whether or not the printer (Inkjet/scanner/all-in-one/wireless) is supported?

The various printers can be found on this page.

I'm thinking it might be time to buy a printer.  Having wireless would be a big plus and free up some workspace.

Thank you.Smiley  Looks like the HP OfficeJet 6500 is perfectly supported as is the HP J4680.

However, both listings are marked by an asterisk which states, "* User-contributed printer which is not in the Foomatic packages yet."

Foomatic?  I'm not sure what this means.  dos it mean I'd have to install drivers outside of the repo?
Although, it does say the recommended driver is hplip. so if I have this installed (and pretty sure I do due to my current printer and scanner), I should be good to go with the 6500.  Not sure about the 4680.

Well, I'm gonna check the repo tonight and see what's what.Smiley

Just installed HP Officejet 6500 last week for my brother in law, through PCC ,add printer. Within minutes I was up and running, and two other computers in the house saw it as well, once I shared the printer. I have owned an earlier generation, (Officejet 5610) of this printer, and it has a good solid document feeder, xsane works with it easily, and it prints nicely.

Check on the hplip project site and their supported devices list to find out will the current repository version support the printer You want to buy coz its the hplip software Youre gonna use to setup the printer / scanner on Your PCLinuxOS box.

Hope this helps.

Andy

P.S. HP printers are ones of the best Linux supported printers...
