Well I was trying new stuff in e17 and somehow got loaded penguins which are all over my eeepc now. Walking, reading, flying, drilling into my panel....If I click on a penguin it explodes and flies to heaven Huh

Here's a screenshot:

Now I can't find the way to make them stop (tried in settings/gadgets) Cheesy Undecided

Beautiful screenshot coffeetime  the community of e17 users is growing  Grin  T6 said that is a toy DE for him, probably my needs are less because I use it at work every day.

e17 at first seemed very complicated but it is simple if you find the centralized controls. Now, if you find how I can make the file names shorter, I'll be grateful

Coffeetime, your desktops are beautiful.  I was attempting to achieve similar; however, my EeePCs are all 700-series models, with the 840 x 480 display.  One of the difficulties I was encountering, accordingly, was with scaling the shelf down to about 18 pixels - which didn't seem as successful.  Perhaps e17 may not be suitable for such a resolution; however, I shall definitely be considering it for some of my other machines, and do look forward to the forthcoming PCLinuxOS Enlightenment release with much anticipation!

Nice... the wood panel background seems to invoke in me a feeling that would be reminiscent of, say, the ambiance in a Legion hall - all that's missing would be the dartboards.  ;-)

Although I do have two questions, regarding your shelf layout:  one, what is the 'Eee' icon for, and two, why is the shelf sitting so far above the bottom?

Icon , right click, change icon properties, click the window you get the icon and find the icon you want , tab apply.
Just because it has applications + Ibar as gadgets  Roll Eyes , E17 is fully customizable. Grin
Well, better to explain it coffeetime  Wink.

Agust, it seems to me that the more I learn of e17, the more I find to like and admire.  I have long maintained that a GUI should be directly configurable; that is to say, that each and every element and function should be configurable simply by right-clicking upon it directly, instead of having to search for its configuration options in some buried sub-menu.

I am indeed curious about coffeetime's recent layout.  It is not that an "Eee" icon may be added to the shelf in such elegant fashion, however, but rather that I am wondering more of its actual function.  To me it is implying perhaps a more specialised set of Eee-specific functions or options, and I am wondering what those would be, as I've not noticed such previously.  The, ah, 'elevation' of his shelf above the display bottom also mystifies me - I appreciate the beauty of its transparency and placement, but then I also wonder how he makes actual use of it, as my own pattern of usage tends to lead me towards a different layout style.

I feel my old curiosity again, growing - I may wish to learn a great deal more, from both of you!

Eee icon:

Eee PC hardware control and configuration
eee-control is an easy-to-use utility for controlling Eee PC hardware under Linux. It can toggle hardware (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.) on and off, lets you configure all hardware hotkeys, enables aggressive powersaving, and more. Almost all Eee PC netbook models are supported to varying degrees.

Menu is located in System->Configuration->Hardware

Compatible with: ASUS Eee PC 700/700SE, 701/701SD, 702, 900/900A/900SD/900HD, 901, 904HA/904HD, 1000/1000H/1000HD/1000HE,
1002HA

It's in Synaptic Wink Check it out.

E17 is highly customizable. Layout style? Well, play and make it to suit your needs. And BTW, as Agust already said somewhere on the forum, we're a small team, but speedy one Cheesy. I hope you'll join us.
