Update reinstalled my updated minime and tried to install compiz like I used to have spent hours getting no where video problem either black or white screen, reinstalled againing with the 2009 mininime original disk I had, hope for some luck but no, think download compiz or some libraries in the repositories not compatable, oh well know when I'm beaten.  Sad Thank goodness for Windows.

compiz in 2009 doesn't work with KDE 4. It was designed for KDE 3. You can however enable compiz effects from the KDE4 control center. Compiz will work with KDE 4 in 2010.

Thanks Tex, I think I did have some compiz effects working on a PCLinux2009.2 updated with kde4 but not all plugins would work, compiz fusion still has a lot to offer imho, I like the modern look of kde4, and like the effects but still think it has some catching up to do compared with all the plugin effects of compiz, wobbly windows are not as good even after ajusting for more wobble  Smiley.
Compiz effects were a real winner for Linux. Now if only all games played equally as well on Linux, alot of youngsters might take a real interest in Linux.

Just found a backup disk of Pclinuxos with kde4 on it, and the effects work again but when fired up firefox it wouldn't work, downloaded the new version but am now downloading 419 updates it said I need, just hoping don't lose my compositing with them. Fingers crossed

Update: Phew! it went ok, now probably need to make another DVD backup.  Grin

P.S does anyone know if there is a good looking equivalent of Circle Dock for kde4, or has anyone been successfully using it with wine?

composting

Read this word very carefully.

Cheers.

So what? is appropriate for my Radeon

The word should be compositing. I think it was funny our video cards could support composting.

Cheers.

I liked it, too  Cheesy

Using a graphics card for composting really gives a new meaning to "video processing"!  Grin
