Hi guys and gals! I wanted to play with the 2009.2 I just downloaded to day. I saw the Mobalive thingy and downloaded it, but it goes to create a virtual HD and fails to copy qkemu? Fail,Fail,Fail,Fail,Fail,Fail,Fail,Fail, etc.

I'm trying it on my Windows 7 64 bit gaming machine, is that why it doesn't work? There seems to be no real help in the help menu, and no answers. Any ideas?

flaminghotsauce,

Mobalive is not PCLinuxOS relatred , its a windows app that sets up (or appears to) Qemu inside windows, I would suggest using Mobalivecd's support area to find out why its not installed on windows, perhaps its for XP - there are apps that wont work on 7.

An alternate would be to use qemu for windows or virtualbox, even then you would need to get support from the providers of the app, as its not PCLinuxOS virtual machine (ie you are running a VM within PCLinuxOS) issue.

do you want to run pclinux 2009.2 inside a virtual machine under windows 7?

why?

a waste of time i think

about mobalive

http://mobalivecd.mobatek.net/en/

there are other virtual machines available, including virtualbox(using qemu)

http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/3.1.2/VirtualBox-3.1.2-56127-Win.exe

vmware

http://www.vmware.com/products/player/

or even the famous microsoft virtual pc

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=28C97D22-6EB8-4A09-A7F7-F6C7A1F000B5&displaylang=en

supposedly can run linux distros but not sure

Why? I just wanted to play with PCLinuxOS 2009.2 on my desktop. It's my gaming machine running Windows, but I still wanted to try it. That's all.

I thought I clicked a version for Vista, but I tried to re-download it, and I cannot find any other version. I guess I have to dump cookies to see if it shows up.

I'm familiar with the VM's but I saw this on the main PCLinusOS download page, thought it would work.

pclinux is a livecd designed to work in real hardware, there is compatibility with virtualbox afik, but that is all

the idea of use linux is have the most secure, stable and fastest os you can have but run it on a virtual machine inside windows is a waste of time(personal opinion)

if the mobalive website can't support you, we can't do anything because pclinux is not involved in the development of that windows app
