I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 with a notebook style (no number pad) keyboard.
To get some characters, notably ~, #, and @, I need to use the Alt Gr key. However this key has no effect.
I have selected the french keyboard layout option in KDE Control Centre and "Laptop/notebook Dell Inspiron 6xxx/8xxx" for keyboard model. This gets most keys, including the function keys for brightness and volume, working but not Alt Gr.
I found this from Texstar:
For the keyboard in the console, I did : setxkbmap fr as root, and as user (change fr to your needs).
so I tried "setxkbmap fr" and it worked. Thought to myself, "must put that in the startup". Tried again a few days later and it no longer works! Doh!
Any ideas?
Russell.
