I just wanted to say It would be nice to announce an approximate date of next PCLinuxOS releases. I am waiting for a PCLOS release with a newer kernel (> or = 2.6.31 and ext4 file system), and I am sure I am not the only one. I think it is good to wait until things are working well before releasing them, but I think developers can estimate (maybe with an error of 2 or 3 weeks) when they will release the next version.

randa-76 , take a look at what Tex said here. KDE4.4 release is scheduled for February 9th, so I'd give it a week at most after that. Experience has shown that new KDE releases are implemented amazingly fast. And if no show-stoppers show up until then, I'd think we're good to go very soon. Torsten

Thanks a lot for your answer, tschommer.
But something else: you talked only about KDE, and what about Gnome version? Will they both be released at the same time?
Thanks.

randa-76,
AFAWK, the "other" versions of PCLinuxOS will follow shortly after the KDE version.

Thank you, parnote.
My mother tongue is not English, so I did not understand what you meant with "AFAWK".
Thanks.

"AFAWK" = "As Far As We Know" In Norwegian, reads: "Såvidt vi vet" It is good that a new Gnome also come eventually, because that's what I use. I feel very happy with the Gnome ZEN mini. But with the new kernel, it would have been significantly faster, I think, or "as far as I know, or: "Såvidt vi vet" = AFAWK

Is there a similarity to the German phrase So weit ich weiss... ? In Norwegian, reads: "Såvidt vi vet"

Sorry, but certain abbreviations have been in use in forums since their earliest days, and since beginning on BBS systems all around the world, before the Internet gained its widespread access and acceptance.
The abbreviations traditionally used in forums are not the same as those used with cell phone text messaging, and were in place long before text messaging gained the ubiquitous foothold in our society that it has.

How about we all just agree to ... heck, dem dudes piecing together dat 2010 is ahead of us Sorry, that was uncalled for. As tschommer and parnote had already mentioned, it is known among long-time PCLOS users that all the derivatives - GNOME, LXDE, XFCE, ZenMini, E17 (?) and what else would follow soon after the official release. It would also be a good time to state that PCLinuxOS is officially a KDE Linux distro and all the other DEs are derviatives ... sanctioned remasters by prominent community members such as slick50, Sproggy, Neal, Linuxera, etc.
