This had happened before when my dual core would be idle at around less than 10%. However, with the recent update (as with the occasional updates previously) they are way up at around 60%. Not really a major issue as I know that it would soon be rectified.

I am not running any additional processes and the configs are the same as it was when the CPU use was lower.

What I am wondering is what's causing it? I hope that the next updates would bring them back to a comfortable level.

Basically just X using around 40% and imwheel that's hitting between 10-15%, and of course there's a tolerable cairo-dock, compiz and firefox that's making up the rest. So I guess the culprit is X.

what driver are you using for your video card?

also, imwheel gave me problems so i uninstalled(crashed, ate cpu and made the wheel in my mouse not to respond), it is only required if you have a specific mouse that uses more features that a usual mouse

i'm really appreciative of your concerns, T6. thanks.

[archie@arevalo ~]$ rpm -qa | grep nvidia
nvidia_190.xx-190.42-1pclos2010
dkms-nvidia-current-190.42-1pclos2010
x11-driver-video-nvidia-current-190.42-1pclos2010
[archie@arevalo ~]$

imwheel doesn't do much except i lost the functionality of the wheel which i I am thinking is the moment to replace my pointing device. Smiley

i had a similar post previously and the issue fixed itself. i just hope it's has nothing to do with the test kernel i am using.

no, remove imwheel with synaptic

see results after that, i had to do it, after killing and removing it, the wheel went back to normal, i am sure that the cpu runs at those high values when imwheel hangs
