<SOLVED>I messed up external WD 250 GB permissions pls HELP!

I'm sure I'll get some terms wrong here but I'll try to explain what I did.

first: as Old-Polack described above I placed and entry in my /etc/fstab.

second: I formatted the partition on my external hardrive with a NTFS file system.

third: I halted my system and viola it worked.

I then removed the entry in /etc/fstab rebooted and it still worked.

I used a little of what everybody posted here so thanks to everybody!
