Well, some of us [despite PS3/XBox/Wii/PC games] do still like & love Linux games (or am I the only one?). Maybe it's time to have a Games Corner on our forum Cool. What do you think guys?

Let's unite.

 Second that notion. Grin Grin
I love some of the games available for Linux. I have an original XBox , but lately all my gaming is on PC. FYI, if you've not tried 'djl' from the repos, GO GET IT!!. It's a front-end for downloading & playing many different games (some not even in PCLinux repos), also includes various libraries required by certain games. DJL has it's own repository for the games, just click 'repository' tab, pick a game, then click 'install'. Really diggin' this!!

And after trying ejl it gets a resounding, meh...

Installed it and browsed the games. I tried a few games that I hadn't seen in the pclos repos. Smoking Guns is installed on my son's computer running SUSE. I'd enjoyed playing it on his computer and here was a chance for me to install it on mine. It installed but refused to run. It pointed out to me that I have no Open GL. (My other Open GL apps swear it's lying.) Virtual Jay Peak was another I installed that I have yet to enjoy. Locking assertion failure it complained. Digital Paintball, so far, is the only game that I've installed using ejl that has run.

On the other-hand, the graphic preview and link to the game's website are more then worth the install of ejl.

My favs are what I posted above plus few other that I never got working with Linux. Its a matter of time...

I will do more vids if I can...

BTW.. All the deps for TORCS are now in the repo. 4 / 5 days ago the plib was missing Cheesy I build rpm myself with the checkinstall and it was removed 2 days ago due to the fact it was added to the repository by some noble packager Wink!

Now all You need is the torcs package itself!

In no particular order:
Urban Terror, Doom 3, Nexuiz, Americas Army (no longer updated
for us, but there are some servers available for the Linux/MAC players)
I also run EPSXE playstation one emulator on my old PC.

I would love to get involved, I have not found a single native Linux Game that is any good. I can run ET:Quake Wars but it runs better on Windows but don't change the fact that it's a bit crap. Some stuff you can get to run using Wine but in most cases PunkBuster wont run, so you are stuck with the cheats and hackers on the cracked servers. Playing 5 year old games with low frame rates and crap graphics just so you can run them on Linux. Some games push the abilities of a Windows system, something they have been written for, they just don't work in Wine. I play a lot of ArmA:2 at he moment, Wine wont get anywhere near it, I have tried. Some times you just have to duel boot to Windows, sorry.

Show me a Linux game that looks like this and plays this well, I'll join you...

Well, maybe UT?

Ok, PendragonUK, I'm very happy you took your time and join our little corner of the Linux games. And I know, it's hard to play the games in Linux, while coming from Billy's playground. But, we're here to share.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Keep them coming folks....

Edit: Gamers, gamers...special people. Senesitive, but yet objective and honest.
