Well, my poor beloved WinTV-Theater has died for no apparent reason (other then the darn heat and humidity!) after many years of wonderful work on every possible OS  Cry

So.. I'm thinking (and needing) a new TV card and hoping that some of you out there (with PAL tuners) might be able to assist me in this task, as i want a card that is known to work (without "too much" issues) under our PCLinuxOS system.

So Specifications i'd want:
- PAL (most important part!)
- Tuner (Hybrid/Digital, which to get these days?)
- FM
- Hardware Capture
- Remote Control (which obviously will work in PCL)

Let critical specifications
- PCIExpress (if possible, not a must have)
- RCA (or some other input type other then RF)
- HDTV (would be nice to have!)

As i was told, there are some issues with Analog Audio on Hybrid cards, so i would like a card recommendation that is known to work without any issues. I want like my poor WinTV, to plug and play if possible.

Thanks in advance!  Roll Eyes

PS: So far i found Leadtek DTV1800H also being sold in Israel for 290nis (73$)
http://www.leadtek.com/eng/tv_tuner/specification.asp?pronameid=315&lineid=6&act=2
So if anyone knows how this card works, it will help me even get a new card faster   Wink

Hi Sefy..

Don't know much about the Leadtek Card but here's the firmware you'll need for it..

http://steventoth.net/linux/hvr1500/xc3028-v27.fw

Put it in /lib/firmware and reboot..

Good luck,

Well..  I'd check any cabling to the aerial, the ends etc..  Just make sure you've got a powerful signal and no kinks in the cable..

That's the only thing I'd think of..  Software wise, you are good to go with PCLOS..

Cheers,

I use a MSI Megasky 580 USB DVB tuner. It and Kaffeine were made for each other and it works out of the box and with most of the TV apps in the repo like ME TV as well. I live in a crummy signal area but it works great using the rooftop aerial. They can be picked up for peanuts on 'the auction site' and elsewhere.

Thanks Jonesy, but i'm a firm believer in PCI cards when it comes to tasks such as this, i prefer an internal card  Wink

The only thing i could find on google was this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=648028
also found this "patch" https://www.abclinuxu.cz/data/prilohy/5/4/98945-leadtek_dvt1800h-5612.patch
but i have no idea how to implement it so not sure i should be following that  Shocked

No probs Sefy..

I'd wait until you have it installed in the machine before doing anything more than putting the firmware in place..

I believe our v4l drivers will work fine compared to ubuntu's which needed patched..

Good luck,
