he could always merge the two to this thread and leave the first post in the other section with nothing but a link to this one and lock the other one...

not a problem papa, i locked the other with a direction to here.  it's one of those occasions when double posting is permissible.  we want as many people seeing it as possible.  perhaps next time you could make the announcement, direct people here and lock the thread?

this new adaptation by papawoob is stunningly good.  with just a brief overview, i can see that it comprehensively deals with all of kde and some of open office thrown in for good measure.  having just been given a usb scanner, i shall find that section invaluable.

it's a must have for everyone.

congratulations papawoob, it's a masterpiece.

As long as it helps ease the transition to using Linux. When I finish the Gnome one I will post it also.

Thanks everyone,

Now this .pdf should be displayed prominently on the desktop of the next PCLOS release. An excellent guide.

When KDE4 gets here I will update accordingly. I think this one will be useful for quite a while yet, I hope! Grin

Papawoob,

Thanks again for your excellent work! Although I've been using PCLinuxOs since "Big Daddy" I still need all the help I can get. The articles in PCLinuxOS Magazine have really made using this distro a lot easier. Having the KDE Guide all in one file is a great resource. I will be sharing the pdf file with a least two potential converts.

Best regards,

I think this is a great guide. A relative of mine has just jumped from XP to PCLOS and this guide has been a great help. It has a friendly style. Guides like this are just the sort of thing to give nervous MS users the courage they need to make the switch. It shows that there is useful documentation available and that you don't have to be a geek or somebody extra-ordinary to use Linux. It adds credibility. Thanks a bundle. I really appreciate the hard work that has gone into it.

Thanks, boredHousewife!

I can't help but notice that your post count is not very high, so let me welcome you to PCLinuxOS!

I'm also glad your friend has made the change!
