i dont have a vista machine so i cant test this ..there seem to be a problem with samba not connecting to vista machines like the above link shows ..but i am sure there is atleast one person here on the forum who is using vista and pclinuxos and is able to share files btw them ..

..can i suggest changing the title to something like "file sharing btw vista and pclinuxos" to catch these people's attention?

Since you have stated that you can connect to XP machines, this clearly seems to be a Vista problem. I don't have Vista, either, but if I was running it, I would be paying very close attention the the network settings on the Vista machine, including any firewall stuff.

it can even access a the vista machine you couldnt access with pclinuxos? ..interesting ..what version of samba are they using? ..

you know the forum is mainly a bunch of people like you who help other people out .. since you are a part of the community, can you investigate and see whats going on? ..i mean, whats the better way to know linux than to actually solve problems ... Cheesy

you are correct, you shouldnt update until those dependencies are met ..i dont know why you getting those missing dependencies ..people had the first one(including me) but the problem is already solved ..you can look at this thread to see how it was solved http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php?topic=47230.0

did you click reload before you attempted to update?
